I recently hooked up with a Bay Area hip hop artist by the name of Enzyme Dynamite. He’s part of a 4 person crew called The Bayliens, but has recently ventured off into new territory with his solo debut, Stereo Vision. It’s quite different from his usual stuff because he’s primarily singing in the album, rather than rapping. A track from the album has already aired on LIVE 105, a San Francisco rock and alternative station.

We shot the footage for the music video over the past two weekends. The first weekend we shot using a Lumix still photography camera and a Kinoflex for Super 8. We printed 503 still photos from the shoot which I later shot again in order to create a stop-motion where the photos take on a life of their own. The Super 8 has a similar purpose.

The second weekend I shot with a Panasonic HVX200 with a 35mm REDROCK adapter. This will be used for the bulk of the music video. Its going to be hard to weave the 3 mediums together, but it’s a personl joy of mine to mix different methods of filmmaking together.

“A Beautiful Place” should be out in the beginning of August.
